I am gazing out the window on this glorious day
and looking at oceanside beach far below from my wheelchair
perched high on the hill
above towering treetops.
It’s captivating, the brilliant blues and greens of a sea
with the thinnest cascading scalloped sheets of waves edged in white foam.
They look like theatre curtains dramatically lowering on a final act,
as they slowly creep toward the shore and stop far short of home,
like they’re tired, relenting with a gentle beauty.
Tide pools, reflective patches, lie still, remnants,
reminders of that force that is resting now but soon to return.
People dot the sand. A super low tide always draws them.
I watch the figures move across this plane that I remember so well.
Bare feet pads on cold, wet, Pacific North West sand.
Energy rising from the earth vibrating familiar newness,
some long forgotten wisdom awaiting rediscovery,
connecting to every cell in my body
and resonating right through to my bones.
Warm sun and cold air on my skin,
a sea breeze brushes my long curls to the side.
Tiniest hairs on my face and neck stand on end.
Soft, cold water rushes in around my feet
and fills my footprints that disappear in the shallows,
leaving a clean slate for the next wanderer.

This gave me such a feeling of peace. Your descriptions are so vivid. I felt like I was there. 💙🌊

Charlie this is beautiful with layered depths of meaning. .. I have watched the waves touching shore like this from the window of an airplane and noticed that slow tiring of energy ... something we can never see when up close in touch with the water - a matter of scale and perspective .. like the changes of life. I an so glad you are there now in the arms of the nurturing eternal sea.
